Normalspur? In Irland? Nein, Irland fährt auf Breitspur -> 1600 mm.
Standard Gauge? In Ireland? No, the irish ‘Standard Gauge’ is in fact broad gauge -> 1600 mm.

I assume Martin meant "
Irish standard gauge" as referred to in the original post: "...it was deemed that 5 foot 3 inches would be the standard gauge."
