Vossloh to supply trams to Gmunden
AUSTRIA: Local transport operator Stern & Hafferl has awarded Vossloh a €30m contract to supply 11 Tramlink V3 trams to Gmunden in 2015-16. Vossloh will also maintain the fleet for 16 years.
The bidirectional metre-gauge trams will have a capacity of 183 passengers and a maximum speed of 70 km/h. Announcing the contract on January 27, Vossloh said design and assembly would be undertaken by Vossloh Rail Vehicles in Valencia, with Vossloh Electrical Systems leading the project and supplying electrical equipment.
The 2·3 km tramway in Gmunden runs between the ÖBB station and the town centre. A link between the tramway and the Traunseebahn local railway to enable through running has been proposed for many years.
