Guten Abend,

Apologies for writing in English. I've been researching ÖBB Oberbau- Mess- und Versuchswagen 70 81 99-92 000-8. I believe it was built by Jenbacher Werke in 1992 but can anyone tell me if it was purpose-built or converted from another vehicle?

Also, I believe the car was renumbered in 2009 but can anyone tell me its current identity?

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Hi Rob,

the 99-92 000 was built in 1992 directly as special track measuring car for the ÖBB. The car structure is similar to the Bmpz 29-91, which were built at the same time.
I am not aware of any renumbering.

Edit: the car is in use with GPS tracking as Messwagen EM 250, but it seems there are more tracking cars in use with this term, see also "Rail Checker" from ÖBB Infra, which is a 99-91.

Many thanks for your reply. I have a suspicion that 70 81 99-92 000-8 is now 73 81 99-91 001-4. Both cars look identical and we know that 001-4 is not a new build.

The NVR shows that 000-8 has been renumbered but does not note the new number!
