Current location SBB sleeping car 61 85 71-70 917-8 ?

Hello,

Does anyone know the current location of sleeping car 61 85 71-70 917-8? Does it still exist? This is one of five WLABmh175-cars that belonged to the SBB.
A picture of (probably) this car at Belford was shared on Facebook last March 19th: [www.facebook.com] I do not know if this is a recent picture.

Best regards,
Martijn
Hello Martijn,

the sleeping car in the facebook-picture cannot be the 61 85 71 70 917-8. It is one of the older sleeping cars 809, 812, 813, 814 or 820 sold in 1988 by the DB. I don't know if the 71-70 917 still exists.

Kind regards

Mathias

Martijn,

as far as I know, four of the ex-SBB WLABm175 were sold and are currently being used as a stationary hotel on rails in Holland (Amsterdam area).
I do not know what became of the fifth one, which I had lost track of prior to the quartet being parked in Schaffhausen Guterbahnhof.
If that photo was taken (and not just posted on March 19, 2020), it would have to be 917-8, because the other 4 are known to be in Holland.
Did you send a message to the author of the post?

Regards

Mike C

@Mathias: Thank you for the correction. How can the older sleeping car be identified from the newer ones? Is it the different type of window frames?

@Mike C: The sleeping cars 71-70 913, 914, 915 and 916 are as said part of Train Lodge Amsterdam. This hostel includes the former Bistro-car 88-70 080 of the NMBS and sleeping car 71-30 819. See for some pictures: [www.martijnhaman.nl]
A reaction on the Facebook-post was given some time ago, but no helpful answer till now.

Best regards,
Martijn
Yes, the window frames are different, the older cars have never been renovated, the older cars have other bogies and platform doors.
Hallo Martijn,
